She is a volunteer teacher at the Washington English Center, where she received a service award in 2021, and she earned a TEFL certificate from Georgetown in 2013. She has taught across a wide range of contexts, including local schools, language institutes, and universities in the Washington, DC area. Her experience includes working with young learners at the National Defense University, DC public charter schools, and DC Public Schools, as well as teaching internationally through programs such as Panamá Bilingüe, where she was a teacher trainer with K–12 English instructors.

Kathleen has also worked as an online instructor for international initiatives with the U.S. Department of State, including programs for EducationUSA-Russia, the Republic of Angola’s Ministry of Economy and Planning, and a global exchange program focused on business and entrepreneurship in English-language teaching.

She holds an M.S. in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education and an M.A. in Russian history from Indiana University, as well as a B.A. from Miami University (Ohio). She also holds Georgetown University professional certificates in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and Instructional Design and recently earned a Georgetown Microcredential in Artificial Intelligence. Her teaching explores how AI and digital tools can support language learning, academic writing, and responsible technology use in the classroom
