Mandatory Placement Test Requirement
All students, both new and returning, are required to take a placement test. After submitting an application, the student will be sent instructions and information via email to take the placement test. The placement test will determine a student’s language level and the correct course level placement for the student’s desired course. The placement test will be administered remotely using an online test and students will be required to have access to a laptop or desktop computer with a high-speed internet connection, as well as audio and video capabilities. Once a student’s language level is determined and their course level is confirmed, then the ELC will register them for the course. Upon registration, the student will receive a tuition invoice email.
The Evening & Weekend English program reserves the right to move students to a different level of a course if the diagnostic test given on the first day of class warrants it. All such moves will be completed in the first week of classes with no additional charge to the student.
If your placement test results indicate that you do not meet the minimum English proficiency level required for admission to the Evening & Weekend English program, then you will not be able to participate in the program. We will provide suggestions for other ways to improve your English outside of the ELC.
